About the Artist Residency

A new annual initiative for distinctive recording projects, shaped inside our space.

Each year, the residency gives selected artists four days of dedicated, complimentary studio recording time with post-production support, representing up to €5,000 in studio and production support.

It makes room for a cohesive body of work to take shape, reflecting both the artist’s voice and the evolving spirit of the studio. Projects created through the residency may be released independently or, by invitation, through Hot Soap Records, our curated digital imprint.

Portrait of SOF (Sophie Thoma)

SOF 2027 Artist Resident

SOF (Sophie Thoma) is a singer-songwriter whose music blends alternative pop and folk. Refusing to be defined by a single genre, she draws inspiration from a wide range of influences, allowing each song to evolve naturally while exploring new ways to express herself.

Her deeply personal songwriting explores themes of heartbreak, growing up, mental health, identity, and self-acceptance. As a proudly autistic artist, Sophie is passionate about increasing visibility and representation for autistic people within the music industry.

For SOF, songwriting is a way of expressing emotions that can sometimes be difficult to put into words. Through honesty and vulnerability, she hopes to create music that resonates with others and gives a voice to experiences that often go unspoken.

Above all, SOF sees music as a form of connection, transforming personal experiences into something shared, with the hope of making listeners feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.

Zina Melekki 2026 Inaugural Artist Resident

The residency’s first chapter: a neo-classical project that expands the studio’s artistic landscape, released as a single via Hot Soap Records.

“Nous jai Karkia” means “Mind and Heart” in the Cypriot dialect. The oud represents the mind and the lyra the heart, creating a dialogue about inner conflict and balance.
